Vision Statement
“To use our God given abilities as
medical professionals to reach others for Christ by meeting the
physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people around the world
while developing and nurturing long term relationships as God
directs.”
Yearly Medical Trips
Migorie, Kenya-
Kenya is a country rich in wildlife and
beautiful countryside. While all of this beauty exists, it still
lacks even the most basic health care facilities. Malaria and
intestinal parasites plague the people and access to clean water and
medicines are difficult to find.
By being involved in our Kenya ministry
you help by bringing your expertise and greatly needed supplies to a
very needy country. You also share the gospel of Christ to the
patients in our clinic and in the village. (pictures to come)
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Brazil is the largest country in South
America and is the home of 60% of the Amazon Rainforest. Basic
healthcare is limited and disease runs rampant throughout the
country.
Our ministry to Brazil will
be working in Sao Paulo and will be focused on acute care in
coordination with the local authorities and Brazilian government.
2007 will be our first medical trip to Brazil. We will work with
our local contact Carlos and take our medical teams wherever the
need is the greatest. We will also share with the Brazilians the
great love of Christ and participate in evangelism. (pictures to

L’viv, Ukraine
Ukraine is free politically
but plagued by corruption in the government. Hospitals are
available but bribery and corruption leave the honest and poor in an
impossible situation.
Our ministry to Ukraine
involves a partnership with Dr. Eugene Krupin and is our longest
medical ministry site. Dr. Krupin runs a clinic year round which is
supported completely by HOM’s shipments of medicines and supplies.
Each year we send medical teams to work with Dr. Krupin as well as
pastors who share the gospel to every patient that enters our
clinics. (pictures to come)
Namwera, Malawi
Malawi is the fourth
poorest nation in the world, constantly battling against starvation,
rampant disease, unsanitary living conditions and a lack of hope.
Our medical ministry to
Malawi is a new and growing ministry and there is a great deal of
need. We bring basic medical care to the Yao people groups who have
very minimal access to medical care. We also bring them the love
and mercy of Christ and share with them the hope that only Christ
can bring. (pictures to come)
A Letter from our
Staff
The great commission to “Go and
“Preach” are commands directed towards every individual professing
Christ as their Savior. As health care professionals, we have the
opportunity to share the gospel as we minister to people’s basic
physical needs. We are all given gifts and blessed with many
different talents. We are commanded to be involved in the
furthering of the gospel. It may be through going, giving, praying
or recruiting others. What a wonderful experience it is to be able
to take our gifts and use them all over the world! We, at Hands on
Missions, are ready and eager to use your specific gifts and talents
and provide opportunities for you to be involved in the work of the
great commission. Our medical ministry is growing rapidly and we
need you! Please pray about joining us on one of our upcoming
mission opportunities! We also need faithful financial supporters
and prayer warriors. Thank you for being faithful and may God
richly bless you as you bless others in the name of Jesus Christ.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING…
I have been an LPN for the
past 27 years. My primary work has been in geriatric care. I began
going on mission trips with HOM in March of 1997 after learning that
there was a need for someone to help with evangelism in Cape Town
South Africa. My first medical trip was in 1998 to L'Viv Ukraine
with HOM. It was a life altering experience. Many people there are
in great need of medical attention due to the very low income of
most of the people. We were priveleged to have a dentist with us
that year and the heart wrenching thing was that we had to turn
people away because there was not enough medical personnel. I feel
very privileged to be a part of a HOM team because while there is
concern about the physical person the most important focus is on the
spiritual person and the salvation of souls. It is not just a
humanitarian aid organization but the primary thrust is on people
coming to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Every person that
comes to the clinic has an opportunity to hear the plan of
salvation.
Each trip is very well
organized and the teams meet several times before leaving to pray,
to plan and for the team members to get to know one another. God has
given me the wonderful opportunity of going with HOM on 24 mission
trips since Mar of 97. Not all of these trips have been medical some
were totally evangelistic. In a medical capacity I have gone with
HOM 8 times to Ukraine, 7 times to Kenya, once to Brazil and once to
Malawi. I can't begin to tell you what a blessing it is to give
medicines and medical treatment to those in need and be able to
share the love of Christ with them at the same time. There is great
joy in knowing that you had a part in helping someone physically but
the greatest joy comes from seeing someone come to know Christ.
I would highly recommend to
anyone that they be a part of a HOM team wherever God might lead
them to join. Each team is as though we become a family. Your life
will forever be changed and you will never receive a greater
blessing than this.
Sincerely,
Linda Cunningham LPN
“Awesome! That is
the most descriptive work I can use for mission work. Other words
come to mind such as rewarding, exhausting, humorous, enlightening,
spiritual growth, mind-opening, etc… Basically what I have found to
be true with missions is whenever you are a part of God’s work you
are blessed and humbled. I have twice been a part of Hands On
Missions’ Ukraine medical team as an Optometrist. We were able to
have a medical clinic, children’s program and an eye clinic. To see
the lines of people waiting to be seen and knowing that each one
would be shown God’s love and given the plan of salvation was
exhilarating. We were able to help so many with their physical
needs but most importantly many made decisions for Christ!
Another wonderful thing about
this trip was being able to stay with Ukrainian families and develop
relationships with them. I now have family in L’viv, Ukraine! I am
looking forward to returning to L’viv this summer and the potential
for other countries appears limitless. Have you ever thought about
mission service? As one of my teammates said last summer, “God does
not call the qualified, He qualifies the called”. If you are
willing to serve, God can use you. God bless!”
Alan Winesett, OD
A dear friend, with whom I share a
heart for global missions, encouraged me to participate
in a Hands on Mission medical team going,
for the first time, to serve in Malawi. I am a retired RN, having
been out of practice for several years. I was skeptical about my
ability to minister effectively in that setting, but God created and
Hands on Missions opened up a spot for me to manage the pharmacy and
to do patient drug education. It was an awesome experience to be a
part of a team whose stated purpose was to glorify God and to
minister to the sick in His name. During our stint there, we were
blest to see and dispense medications to more than 1200 patients in
six days. It was an even greater joy to watch and pray while over
100 residents of a predominately Muslim
village prayed to receive Christ while they waited in line to be
seen by the team!
I remember our first day of ministry,
standing at the door of our “office” and looking out over the 150+
people waiting to be seen. I thought to myself, “This is not a
mission magazine or National Geographic; this is the real thing –
and God made you to be here, doing just this thing at just this
point in time”. Awesome! But with that realization comes a
responsibility: I can never again act as if I haven’t seen what I
have seen or know what I now know. I think God will not be letting
me “off the hook” anytime soon!
